Los Angeles - Wildfires ravage southland
Wildfires are out of control in Southern California from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Particular areas of concern are Malibu and the Santa Clarita Valley. Los Angeles - 4.2 quake hits Wrightwood area
A magnitude-4.2 earthquake rumbled through the San Gabriel Mountains near Wrightwood early today, but no damage was reported.
The 1:53 a.m. quake, which was felt in Pasadena and other foothill communities, was centered about 3 miles north of Wrightwood, according to a preliminary reading from the U.S. Geological Survey.
Wrightwood, home to the Mountain High ski hill and a population of less than 4,000 people, is about 45 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
A dispatcher for the San Bernardino County fire department said there were no immediate reports of damage. Quakes in the magnitude-4 range can cause moderate damage.

Los Angeles - Small quake jolts SM area
A magnitude 2.7 earthquake that could be felt at Los Angeles International Airport struck near Santa Monica this morning, according to Caltech.
The temblor struck at 9:25 a.m., about a mile south southeast of Santa Monica and 13 miles west southwest of the downtown Convention Center.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, according to the Santa Monica Fire Department.
